Our #FranchiseeFriday is Chris Sanford, who is a Navy Veteran, and owns a PuroClean in Warwick, Rhode Island! As the Paramedics of Property Damage, Chris and his team helps their customers
when they need help the most. Specializing in full restoration from water, fire, mold and other property damage, they have a motivated, reliable and cooperative team. They work with clients, insurance companies, and other third parties to get people back in their homes and get businesses back up and running.

Christopher Sanford is originally from Warwick, RI. He graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA with a B.A. in Economics in 2000, and was commissioned through the Holy Cross NROTC Unit as an Ensign in the US Navy. CDR Sanford graduated from Surface Warfare Division Officer Course in December 2000 and reported aboard USS ANCHORAGE (LSD 36) Combat Information Center Division Officer during operations in the Arabian Gulf. After finishing the Western Pacific deployment and returning to San Diego he pursued and completed his Surface Warfare Officer qualification within one year of reporting aboard, and was Propulsion Division Officer for both main systems.     

Transferring to Pre-Commissioning Unit PINCKNEY (DDG 91) in Pascagoula, MS, CDR Sanford assumed duties as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer, tasked with bringing the Navy’s first AN/SQQ-89(V)15 Sonar System online. He was one of the initial Officers of the Deck to take the new ship on its maiden sail through the Panama Canal to its new homeport of San Diego. He took over as Weapons Officer following a successful Combat Systems Ship Qualifications Trial. He later rotated to shore where he served as a Surface Warfare and Anti-Terrorism Force Protection instructor at Surface Warfare Officer’s School Command Newport, RI.     

After transferring to the Naval Reserve in 2007, assignments have included tours in Newport, RI with Naval Warfare Development Command, United States Fleet Forces Reserve Detachment Joint Task Force 700, and the Naval War College Support Unit. CDR Sanford mobilized in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Kampala, Uganda from January 2012 through February 2013, where he served as the Officer in Charge at the US Embassy, overseeing coordination with the US military, State Department and USAID to provide theater security cooperation to the Uganda People’s Defense Force. He currently serves in the N5, Plans Department, on the staff of Commander Seventh Fleet. In civilian life, Mr. Sanford owns and operates a franchise, PuroClean Disaster Restoration Services, which helps home and business owners recover from water, fire, and mold property damage.  

CDR Sanford earned his Masters in Business Administration at the University of Rhode Island in August 2007, completed the Leadership Rhode Island Curriculum in 2010, earned Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1 with the Naval War College in 2013, and graduated in Cohort 1 of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program in 2016.  He is an active member of his community as a member of the Rotary Club of Warwick, the Providence Council on Foreign Relations, the West Broadway Neighborhood Association, and St Raymond’s Catholic Church.  In July of 2018, he was selected as the Rhode Island Chair for the Employer Support of the Guard & Reserves (ESGR). His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, five Navy Commendation Medals, three Navy Achievement Medals, multiple unit and campaign decorations.
